How schedules and matchups work

Hybrid Fantasy Basketball follows NBA game numbers instead of fixed weekly windows. Each fantasy matchup uses one regular-season NBA game per player, based on their NBA team’s schedule.

For example, Matchup 10 uses every NBA team’s 10th game. Your Celtics players contribute from Boston’s 10th game, while your Lakers players contribute from Los Angeles’s 10th game—even if those games happen on different nights. Those performances all count toward the same fantasy matchup against your assigned opponent.

Why multiple matchups can be in progress

NBA teams play at different speeds. Boston might play its 11th game before Los Angeles finishes its 10th. That means Matchup 11 can begin collecting scores while Matchup 10 is still finishing.

You could therefore be playing one fantasy opponent in Matchup 10 and another in Matchup 11 at the same time. Each NBA game belongs to its corresponding matchup; its score does not carry over into another matchup.

Setting your lineup

Each regular-season matchup has its own lineup, which locks at the first NBA tipoff for that matchup’s game number. Playoff lineups lock at the start of their displayed three-day window. The displayed deadline tells you exactly when changes close—even if some of your players’ games take place later.

Your usual lineup carries forward automatically unless you save a different lineup for a specific matchup. Use Set next lineup to make that change before its deadline. Once a matchup locks, later lineup changes, trades, and roster moves do not change its saved players or priorities.

Following scores and results

Every matchup gives each of your five roles a separate 48-minute allowance. Minutes and fantasy points stay within that matchup.

Scores arrive as the relevant NBA games are played and imported. A matchup remains in progress while it waits for remaining games or required scoring data. A postponed game can delay completion. When all required games and scores are accounted for, the result becomes final and updates your league standings.

The season and playoffs

Opponents rotate throughout the regular season, and you can face the same team more than once. The standard regular season runs through Matchup 55. Once all regular-season results are final and the All-Star break has ended, the top four teams play best-of-five semifinal series. First to three wins advances. Commissioners can select best-of-three, first to two wins, before playoffs start. Each series game uses a three-day scoring window, counting each player’s first NBA game within it. Games run sequentially, and the championship series begins only after both semifinal winners are known. Owners get at least 24 hours before each series starts and six hours before later games. Games that are no longer needed are skipped. Every role gets a fresh 48 minutes per series game.
